Description
In November 2023, Mujō created this mural, echoing his previous work in Dijon, in this new regional council building in Besançon.
For this project, the Besançon artist drew his inspiration from photos he took in the street. He focuses on the actions of different users of public space, which accumulate and superimpose to form unexpected compositions (peeling and weathered wall coverings, accumulations of tags and stickers, cleaning by technical services, makeshift repairs, etc.).
Here he reinterprets these haphazard assemblages through a composition of flat, patinated and textured areas. Large geometric shapes and traces in saturated colours, partially erased, evoke movement, the gestures of graffiti and the practice of painting on the scale of the body.
Like the work in Dijon, this creation is a composite process, using a mixture of different techniques:
The building paints and acrylic aerosols, partially washed or flattened, are embellished with successive traces created using markers, industrial chalk and sponges.
