Description
Accustomed to reappropriating signage from our urban spaces, this artist models these pigeons in the style of 19th-century animal sculptures, using the same patina as the statue on which the pigeon perches. Bronze statues in public spaces are historical markers, built by victors and designed to stand the test of time.
The pigeon is often considered a nuisance in our urban lives, but here it accompanies Vauban, one of those VIP figures frozen in time for eternity.
Pigeonner was presented for 10 days during the festival at the Citadel of Besançon.

Biographie
Julien Berthier was born in 1975 in Besançon. He lives and works in Aubervilliers. He creates sculptures, videos, photographs and drawings. Julien Berthier imagines machines and situations that are often absurd. Through his work, he seeks to highlight failed attempts to improve the world.
